Drain Repairs - Relining

Thanks to the advance in drainage technology, it is now much safer to explore your blocked drains and get to the route of the problem than ever before. Thanks to CCTV Drain Surveys, it is no longer necessary to undertake disruptive excavations to carry out Drain Repairs and Drain Maintenance.

Permanent drain repairs can be affected by using soft lining and resin lining technology – meaning any work can be carried out without disruption to homes or businesses.

Softlining

To cast insitu a 3 - 10mm thick Fibre Reinforced Plastic Pipe against the wall of the defective buried pipe. The process is carried out in four stages.

Stage 1
A felt tube the same size as the inside diameter of the defective pipe is saturated with a liquid resin.

Stage 2
The saturated tube is inserted into the pipe by the pull through method.

Stage 3
A layflat plastic calibration tube is inflated by the introduction of water or air pushing the saturated tube to its full diameter.

Stage 4
Once the resin has cured the inner calibration tube is removed leaving the existing pipe lined with a hardened polyester liner.

Installation of Cold Cured Resin Linings in Buried Pipes

To cast insitu a plastic structural lining against the walls of an existing pipe. The liner is designed to have a mechanical fit with the existing pipe as opposed to a chemical bond.

Stage 1
Clean the pipe concerned using high pressure water or by mechanical means. Ensure the pipe is free of silt, debris, roots and scale. If these are not removed they shall show up as a bulge under the lining.

Stage 2
Inspect the clenliness of the pipe using a CCTV camera. Check for any blind connections, bends or badly misaligned joints or backfalls.

Stage 3
Pull a 10mm thick polypropelene rope through the drain.

Stage 4
Calculate the amount of resin required for the job. Calculate the connection of accelerator and catalyst using the relevant tables in the next section.
